91¶ÌÊÓƵ Faculty Participate in Inaugural Digital Learning Day

More than 80 91¶ÌÊÓƵ (91¶ÌÊÓƵ) full-time faculty, adjuncts, staff, and administration gathered in the Institute for Academic Excellence to participate in the College’s Inaugural Digital Learning Day (DLD), Friday, February 14. Participants had the opportunity to share classroom successes with their 91¶ÌÊÓƵ colleagues as well as virtual attendees from outside the College. They also heard from a variety of presenters across disciplines who shared strategies and techniques to engage students while supporting retention and success in blended and online course environments.
The 91¶ÌÊÓƵ Institute for Academic Excellence, Libraries, and Virtual Campus teamed up to host Digital Learning Day to support faculty needs as they pursue new ways facilitate student learning at 91¶ÌÊÓƵ and expand delivery of hybrid and online classes.
Along with 91¶ÌÊÓƵ faculty and staff presenters, guest presenters for the day included Dr. Angela Robbins, Customer Success Manager, Blackboard; Dr. Perry Samson, Professor at the University of Michigan; Dr. Wendy Howard, Program Director, Pegasus Innovation Lab, University of Central Florida; Anne Prucha, Associate Professor, Modern Languages, University of Central Florida; and Pam Thomas, Instructor, Biology, University of Central Florida.
DLD presenters shared their knowledge on topics including Blackboard (Bb) teaching and learning tools that improve student engagement and interaction; how to maintain freshness and engagement in an online course; the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP); adaptive courseware; Open Educational Resources (OERs); Echo360 techniques for increased student participation and engagement; student collaboration in online classes; student motivation; the use of Project-Based Learning in Online Environments (PBLOE); point of need research assistance; and cultural competency.
Blackboard and Echo360 served as event sponsors for the day, providing breakfast and lunch for those in attendance.
