Event & Venue Management

In partnership and powered by AAG Live and 91¶ÌÊÓƵ, students have an opportunity to train for a career in the event and venue management arena of entertainment.

This opportunity is only for those who are serious about making live entertainment and event coordination a career. Students receive elite instruction designed and taught by professionals in the field, learn and operate on a standard event and entertainment day schedule, and work with professional industry gear.

The curriculum covers everything you will need to know to be effective in the event industry, and was created from the knowledge and real-life experiences of our technicians and instructors.  Job placement assistance is actively available for program completers.

In only 5 weeks of hands-on learning and classroom instruction, students will earn 16 AAG Industry Certificates in the following areas:

In this professional course, students will master the responsible of a production manager. Students will learn budgeting, location management, transportation and advancement. Students will also gain understanding of layouts, set designs and prop management.

In this professional course, students advance their knowledge in corporate, broadcast and stage lighting. Students will explore the history of stage lighting technology, and learn the fundamentals of lighting systems, dimmer systems, truss, and rigging systems. Additional subjects include green screen lighting, color selection, plotting and troubleshooting.

In this professional course, students explore how power is created, sustained and utilized safely in entertainment situations. Students will learn electrical components used in entertainment, as well as power distribution. Course will also cover signal flow and troubleshooting.

In this professional course, students learn the basics of ground rigging. Students will learn the fundamentals of load ratings and calculations. Course will also cover general rigging components and safety.

In this professional course, students advance their knowledge in one of the industry’s main growth areas: sound for concerts, music broadcasts and other live events. This certificate will initially focus on critical listening and ear training skills, followed by techniques of live sound, such as equalization, dynamics, microphone selection and placement, natural and artificial reverb, delay and compression. The course will end with signal flow, mixing techniques and troubleshooting.

In this professional course, students will learn to create day sheets that detail each day's schedule and distribute them to the band and crew. This course will also cover media engagements, appearances, managing the tour's finances, guest lists and day-to-day crew support. Additionally, students will learn how to manage and deal with an artist’s own bad behavior.

In this professional course, students explore stage management skills and techniques within live events and broadcast. The role of the stage manager will be examined from the first rehearsal to calling the closing show. There is also specific focus given to the skills required for managing show flow and stage layout.

In this professional course, students learn to develop safety plans and hire security personnel. Students will learn crowd control techniques, how to converse properly will security firms, and executive protection requirements and artist safety. Course will also
cover general motorcade procedures.

In this professional course, students will learn site selection, transportation and housing, event registration, food and beverage, event design and layout. Students will also study non-profit event planning and vendor selection.

In this professional course, students will learn how to event plan on a macro level. This course will cover venue management with emphasis on safety, in-house A/V, multi-plexing your space and sponsorships.

In this professional course, students will role up their sleeves and learn the ins and outs of event setups. This course focuses on the specific task of load-in and load-out of a show. Students will learn to move fast and manage time while maintaining a safe work environment.

In this professional course, students learn to create a festival from creation to completion. Students will learn timelines, weather awareness, vendor layout and municipality engagement. Course will also review prior positions from production manager to stage manager.

In this professional course, students learn everything from stringing a guitar to tuning a drum set. Students will also study signal flow, system design and backline transportation.

In this professional course, students learn to coordinate wireless mics, IEMs and Comm. Students will learn to develop RF coordination plans and use a frequency analyzer.

In this professional course, students learn to analyze artist offers, artist riders and how to research artist value in a market. Students will also study ticketing and merchandising.

In this professional course, students learn to record live shows and manage playback gear. Students will build show files and playback racks.
